First and foremost, YOU gotta love what you are doing… you must have passion. Or you will fail.

Think about it. When was the last time your went the extra mile, you went above and beyond with something that you did not love doing? You might find a little success, but to really make long term sustainable success, you must absolutely LOVE what you are working on!

Second, and here at The 90 Day App Challenge believe this to be critical, you MUST surround yourself with an amazing team. A team that lifts you up. Supports you. Picks you up when you are down or lost. We believe that you should not be the smartest people in the room. Therefore, we surround ourselves with others that have talents superior than ours… and that is saying a lot about our team because we think we have some pretty amazing super ninja powers!

Last week an article from Business Insider detailed just how much demand for apps is Skyrocketing.

Nearly 10 billion apps were downloaded in all of 2011, and nearly the same number was downloaded in just the first half of 2012.

If you’re a developer or appreneur this means it is Prime Time to get into the market. Demand is strong and only getting stronger.

This is great to hear if you’ve been listening to many of the trends that suggest that the market for apps is becoming more competitive, and the window of opportunity is shrinking.

While it is true that more and more apps are being published to the Apple App Store and Android Market each day, this exponential growth in demand suggests that the demand for new apps is not close to topping out. For new developers, the opportunity to get a new app downloaded may greater than previously thought, as smart phone users continue to hunt for new apps they love.

This massive growth is being fueled by two major smartphone user trends:

1. Smartphone users are spending more and more time in apps, rather than on their mobile browsers.

In 2010, smartphone users spent 21 more minutes per day on mobile browsers than apps. Then by the end of 2011, apps took over, with users spending 22 more minutes per day on apps than web browsers.

2. Smartphones continue to gain market share from the “dumbphones” that still make up the majority of phones in use in the market.

Internationally, smartphones still only make up about 15% of the phone market in general, but that number is increasing rapidly. In 2014, over 1 billion smartphones will be sold. That’s more than are on the market in total today.

At the end of the day, the trends are simple: smartphones will reach more and more people, and those people will spend more and more time using apps.

What does that mean to you? The customers are OUT THERE. There is no time like the present to get your app out to the world. Share your thoughts below…

Hi All,

Amish and James here to answer one big question that everybody keeps asking us about the 90 Day App Challenge:

Why are you guys creating an Incubator? Why is an incubator such a big deal?

Well, there’s a short answer to that and a long answer. Let’s start with the short answer:

Why start an mobile app incubator?

Well, because starting an app business can be challenging all on your own and we want to help you succeed.

The long answer:

Let’s dig into the major misconceptions and challenges around starting a successful app business, and you’ll see how a mobile app incubator is a great solution. Then we’ll explain how we’ve upgraded the incubator model to make it even more lucrative for new app entrepreneurs.

So lets start with the challenges:
A lot of people seem to think that starting an app business can be a quicker, easier, cheaper way to entrepreneurial success. The challenges new startups face are the same challenges new app developers face, it is no different in the app business.

All too often we see Entrepreneurs who have a great idea that often realize there are some pieces of the puzzle missing – a winning strategy, support & tools, a team to bounce ideas off of, legal help, and access to marketing expertise to drive new customers and revenue.

Unfortunately, these missing pieces often cause the downfall of a talented entrepreneur with a great idea. This is the opposite of what we want. We want great ideas and great apps to take off!

So what’s the solution?
We need something that will give entrepreneurs with great ideas the support structure to get off the ground quickly and successfully.

Enter the INCUBATOR.

In-cu-ba-tor [in-kyuh-bey-ter] (noun): Program designed to support the successful development of Entrepreneurs through support, resources and services, developed and offered both in the incubator and through its network of contacts.

For app entrepreneurs, this is a perfect fit. Based on our experience, there is a clear path and definite skills that entrepreneurs need to build successful apps. Through an incubator, we can mentor entrepreneurs along this path and hook them up directly with resources that we know will work for them. Appreneurs + Incubator…it’s the perfect marriage!

BUT, incubator programs aren’t for just anyone.

Many people join incubators and maybe you have been or would like to be one of them!

People who join incubators are people who…

1.

If you’ve started your own business before you know that it can be a high-risk venture with many unforeseen obstacles.

Incubators take green entrepreneurs and pair them with advisors and mentors who have a track record of success, and are able to take much of the guesswork out of building a successful new business.

So to have an incubator organized and set up in the exact industry that you want to get into is a true gift that can keep on giving…and ultimately help to ensure your success when you take all the appropriate actions.

Having advisors and mentors is great, but another piece of the puzzle that is a huge difference maker is having like-minded people to bounce your ideas off of.

One of the main objectives of an incubator is to connect entrepreneurs with other like-minded individuals that are in a similar place. Incubators typically start all the participants at the same time and put them in an environment that sets them up for success. Allowing the members to collaborate with each other and lend support.
Basically, this will build a mastermind group within the incubator! Masterminding with other like- minded individuals has proven to really help us in all our business ventures… and our lives overall!

Acting independently, a new entrepreneur inspired by a great idea can easily spend YEARS trying to get it off the ground: assembling the right team, creating a strong strategy, getting your first customers and many, many more challenges. Due to the rapid-development style of an incubator, most entrepreneurs who are accepted walk in with an idea, and finish the program with a full fledged business that is ready to earn revenue from customers.

Overall, incubator programs for entrepreneurs are one of the best ways to quickly go from zero to running a high level business. The combination of expertise and mentorship, a high-level team, and rapid development of your business makes it one of the fastest and most effective ways to develop a successful business.

It’s all about quickly and efficiently assembling the building blocks to success…

•

87% of incubator graduates stayed in business, in contrast to 44% of all firms.

•

Companies in top incubators earn an average upwards of $1 million in funding (Example: TechStars incubator graduates raised $1.4m on average w/ a 76% survival rate!).

Long story short: If you’re a new entrepreneur and you want to MAXIMIZE your chances of success, an incubator is where you want to be.

Now, let’s talk about how we’re taking things to the next level.

In addition to all the benefits of incubators that you just read about, there are a few things that separate ours from the pack.

First of all, this incubator is VIRTUAL. Most incubator programs actually expect you to re-locate your life to join their program in person. Not in the 90 Day App Challenge.

Here, you’ll be able to participate in the program from anywhere in the world.

Second, and even more importantly, the 90 Day App Challenge

includes an awesome partnership opportunity. In our program, you’ll be able to partner with all the other entrepreneurs, creating an App Network that will skyrocket your traffic, downloads and revenue. Picture yourself receiving revenue from all 18 apps in the Incubator, not just the one you built! Talk about a bonus.

If you have an app idea and are looking for the quickest, most effective way to turn it into a successful venture, apply to be in our next 90 Day App Challenge!

It’s an exciting time here at the 90 Day App Challenge! We are just days away from launching the first Official Season of our new Incubator Program. We have been running a beta program and were blown away by the success and impact. The quality of mobile apps coming out of the beta program was above our expectations… and we have high expectations!

Most importantly to us… the participant experience. We are changing people’s lives. We have participants that are working full time jobs and now seeing a light at the end of the tunnel towards a more free lifestyle. They are tasting entrepreneurship at it’s finest. We also have already successful entrepreneurs that always wanted to taste the mobile app market but did not know how to start. In both cases, the collaboration has been out of this world.

This program is going to change the game. Never before has something like this been established.

We will be releasing all the details about the Virtual Incubator Program on August 21, 2012.

We will see you back here then. We look forward to taking the App World by storm together!
